Back to the Roots: Regenerative Agriculture the Missing Link to Nutrient Density and Soil Health

Dear FoodHack community,

As you might have heard recently, we are very busy preparing for our next event. Did not sign up yet? Click here, there are still seats left!

This week we are very excited to finally unveil the identity of our speakers!

👨🏼‍🌾 Back to the Roots: Regenerative Agriculture the Missing Link to Nutrient Density and Soil Health 👩🏽‍🌾

Yasmine Cathell - Founder, Soil Sommelier

Yasmine started her journey in the regenerative agriculture space back in 2006 at a restaurant sourcing from Polyface Farm and Joel Salatin. That led her to permaculture, a biochar startup, agroforestry and nutrition in Mozambique, an MBA and most recently setting up a cutting-edge nutrient density research project over the last year with the Soil Heroes Foundation in the Netherlands.

Zuzanna Zielińska - Founder HarvestCare

Zuzanna is a systemic entrepreneur, environmental nutritionist, and healthcare change maker. Her venture HarvestCare works on lifestyle medicine against chronic disease, using culinary medicine programs and regenerative local food sourcing.

Andres Jara - Founder Jara & Farmer at Stadsgroenteboer

In 2020, during the Covid-lockdown, Andres started saving food from local farmers by creating amazing salsas. Their product: Jara Salsas is more than 90% pure vegetable and helps support regenerative agriculture in Amsterdam. One of the regenerative farms that Jara is working with: Stadgroenteboer is also co-managed by Andres.

After discussing with the three of them we can already share that our discussion will zoom in on the topic of Soil Health 🪱 and how it can help produce more nutritious food. Indeed, we mentioned in our last newsletter that regenerative farming does not only help the environment but that its practices also have an impact on the micronutrients contained in the food we eat. Oftentimes we come to realize that what is good for the environment is also good for our health, amazing, right ?! 🌞

To discover more about the topic, read this article from the Hive, Unilever Food Innovation Center. They have hosted our last event in Wageningen on the topic of Sustainable Ingredients.

❗Alert: opportunity to pitch ❗
